The Reception Area

The first thing most patients notice is the moss wall. We built it ourselves over two weekends in 2021 with two hot glue guns, and hundreds of dollars of dried and dyed moss from Etsy. It anchors the reception area with warmth and texture that you do not typically find in a dental office, and it is lit from below by a custom sign that reads PS I Love Your Smile.

Beyond the moss wall, the reception area has a coffee bar and a cookbook library, because we believe that the time you spend waiting, which at Mint Hill Smiles is kept short, should feel comfortable rather than clinical. There is a children’s nook with a rock wall and toys so your kids have something to look forward to on the way in, not just on the way out.

New patients receive a brief tour of the office before they head back. We do this intentionally. Familiarity makes the whole experience less stressful, and we would rather you know exactly where you are going and what you are walking into before you sit in a chair.

The Treatment Suites

Each of our eight treatment suites is designed around the patient in the chair. The most important detail in any suite is the ceiling-mounted television streaming Netflix, because your eyes have somewhere comfortable to look while we work. You choose what you watch. We work around that.

The suites are clean and well-lit without feeling harsh. The equipment is modern and well-maintained. You will not find anything that looks like it belongs in a different decade.

The Comfort Menu

Before your appointment begins, your hygienist or dental assistant will offer you a comfort menu.

The comfort menu includes warm neck pillows, plush blankets, weighted blankets for patients who find deep pressure calming, noise-canceling headphones, lip balm for longer appointments, and nitrous oxide for patients who would like additional help relaxing during a procedure.

These are available at every appointment, not just for patients who ask. We offer them because we believe a comfortable patient is a patient who comes back  and because taking care of you while you are in this chair is simply the right thing to do.

What you see in the treatment suites reflects the technology we have invested in to make your care better.

We have a CBCT cone beam 3D scanner for implant planning and airway evaluation, digital intraoral scanners that eliminate traditional impressions entirely, and an in-house milling machine that produces same-day porcelain crowns while you wait. We have multiple 3D printers that produce aligners, retainers, and surgical guides in-house.

None of this is decoration. Every piece of technology in this office exists because it produces better outcomes for patients, makes appointments faster and more comfortable, or both.

You can read more about our full technology suite on out here.
