A Family Dental Practice Built in Mint Hill, For Mint Hill

We are not a dental office that happens to be in Mint Hill. We are a Mint Hill practice, built here, rooted here, and invested in this community.

When Dr. Shalini Kamodia and Dr. Stephanie Marvelli opened Mint Hill Smiles in 2019, they did not choose Mint Hill by accident. They built this practice to serve the families of this town, and everything about how we operate reflects that. Our patients are our neighbors. Our team members live here. The community events, the school sponsorships, and the free dentistry days we host are our way of giving back to the place that has supported us.

Our office is at 11300 Cresthill Drive, Suite 105, right here in Mint Hill, and we are growing. We are currently building a new, larger building in Mint Hill to serve even more families in the years ahead.

Kids Dentist in Mint Hill NC
Every Age

One practice, every stage of life

Care changes a lot between a toddler’s first visit and a grandparent’s implant. What it should not change is who is looking after you.

Babies and toddlers. We see children within six months of the first tooth appearing, or by their first birthday. A first visit is an introduction rather than a treatment. Your child sits in the chair, we count their teeth, we show them the tools, and we talk to you about brushing, diet, fluoride and pacifiers. They go home with something fun and a good memory, which is the entire point.

School age. Cleanings, sealants, fluoride, and X-rays taken on the basis of your child’s actual cavity risk rather than a fixed schedule. We also screen for airway and breathing concerns, which is not standard at most general practices and is one of the things we care most about. More on that on our kids dentistry page.

Teenagers. Wisdom teeth, clear aligners, sports mouthguards, and the stretch where brushing quietly gets worse because nobody is checking any more. Teenagers do better when the dentist is someone they already know rather than someone new.

Adults. Cleanings, fillings, crowns, whitening, clear aligners, veneers and the restorative work that follows a couple of decades of wear. Most of our adult patients came in for a cleaning and ended up asking about something cosmetic once they trusted us.

Later years. Gum health, dentures and implants, dry mouth from medication, and keeping natural teeth as long as they’re worth keeping. Same building, same team, same records going back years.

Under One Roof

Everything Your Family Needs, Right Here in Town

One of the things our Mint Hill patients appreciate most is that they do not have to drive into Charlotte for advanced dental care. We are a full-service practice, which means most of what your family needs happens right here in Mint Hill.

We make same day porcelain crowns in our office using a digital scanner and in-house milling, so a crown is often a single visit instead of two. We place dental implants planned with CBCT 3D imaging. We make clear aligners and retainers in-house on our own 3D printers.

We treat gum disease, perform root canals and extractions, and handle cosmetic dentistry from whitening to veneers. And we see children of every age, from a first dental visit to orthodontics.

We also offer something most practices do not: pediatric airway orthodontics through our Sleep Better Charlotte program. Dr. Kamodia specializes in helping children whose breathing, sleep, and jaw development may be affected by airway issues. For Mint Hill families who have a child that snores, breathes through their mouth, or grinds their teeth at night, this expertise is right here in town.

Why One Practice

The things we catch because we see everyone

This is the real argument for one practice, and it’s not about convenience.

Grinding runs in families, and so does the jaw pain and the cracked molars that follow it. When we see a parent with worn down back teeth and then see the same wear pattern starting on their fourteen year old, that’s a conversation we can only have because both of you are in our records.

Breathing is the bigger one. Mouth breathing, snoring, a narrow palate and crowded teeth can all point to an airway that isn’t developing the way it should, and the effects show up as poor sleep, low energy and trouble concentrating long before anyone connects them to teeth. Through our Sleep Better Charlotte program we identify and treat these issues in children as young as three, using palate expansion, growth guidance appliances and Phase 1 orthodontics. We are not looking to put every child into treatment. We’re looking to catch the ones who need it early, while it’s simple.

Gum disease has a genetic component too. A parent with a history of periodontal problems changes how closely we watch their children’s gums.

None of this shows up if your family’s records sit in three different buildings.

What a family visit actually looks like here

Call and tell the front desk you want to bring more than one person. We book you back to back, which means one trip and one absence from work rather than three.

While one person is in the chair, the rest of the family is not stuck in a waiting room with nothing to do. Our reception area has a kids nook with games, toys and a mini climbing wall, which exists because children who have burned off some energy sit still better.

Every treatment room has a ceiling mounted TV. Kids can watch a show through their appointment, and so can you. Our comfort menu, which includes a weighted blanket, noise cancelling headphones, a warm blanket and an ergonomic neck pillow, is offered to every patient. Nobody has to ask.

We explain every step before we do it, to children and to adults. It’s called tell-show-do and it’s the standard of care for pediatric patients. It works just as well on a nervous forty year old.

Comfort First

Nervous parents, nervous kids

If you’ve been putting off your own dental care while making sure the kids get to theirs, you’re in good company and you will not get a lecture from us. There’s no length of time that makes you unwelcome.

Children read their parents’ anxiety before they read the room, so tell us when you book if you’re the nervous one. We’d rather manage yours quietly at the same appointment than have your child pick it up.

Every patient gets the stop signal explained before treatment starts. Raise your hand and everything stops. For children who need more than the comfort menu, we offer nitrous oxide, which is laughing gas, and it wears off within minutes so they go back to school normally. Our dental anxiety page covers this in full.

Over 800 Five-Star Reviews From Your Neighbors

Mint Hill Smiles has earned over 800 five-star Google reviews, and most of them are from people who live right here. We built this practice around the patient experience, and it shows in how people talk about us.

That experience includes Netflix on the ceiling in every treatment room, a full comfort menu, and a team trained to treat nervous patients with patience and care. We welcome patients who have been avoiding the dentist, patients who have had bad experiences elsewhere, and patients who just want a dental home that feels different from what they are used to. There is no judgment here.

Insurance and Brush365

With or Without Insurance, You Are Welcome

We accept most major dental insurance, including Aetna, Cigna, Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and most Humana plans. We check your benefits before your appointment and tell you what’s covered before we do the work.

If you do not have insurance, our Brush365 membership plan covers your cleanings, exams, and X-rays for one predictable annual price per person with no waiting periods or annual maximums, plus 15% off most other treatment. It’s built for families paying out of pocket who want preventive care to be predictable rather than a surprise. We also offer financing for larger treatment.

Preventive care is also the cheapest dentistry there is. Two cleanings a year per person costs a fraction of one crown, and most of the restorative work we do on adults traces back to something that could have been caught earlier.

Giving Back

A Mission Bigger Than Our Practice

We believe a dental practice can be a force for good in its community. That is why we are on a mission to donate 5,000 free smiles by 2030. We host free dentistry days right here in Mint Hill, we take our team on annual dental mission trips, and we partner with local schools and organizations. Every patient who chooses us is part of how we reach that goal.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Within six months of the first tooth, or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. That feels early to most parents. The visit is short, gentle and mostly about familiarity rather than treatment.

Yes! Tell us who’s coming when you book and we can try to schedule you back to back. Every family’s situation is different, so give us a call and we’ll work out what fits.

No, we’re a general practice that sees children, and that’s a deliberate choice. It means your family stays together rather than splitting between a pediatric office and an adult one, and it means we see how your family’s dental history connects. For the small number of children who need specialist pediatric care, we’ll tell you plainly and refer you.

Yes, at every children’s visit. Mouth breathing, snoring, a narrow palate and crowded teeth can all point to an airway that isn’t developing the way it should, and through our Sleep Better Charlotte program we can treat these issues in children as young as three.

Yes. We scan digitally rather than taking impressions, and you see a simulation of the finished result before treatment starts.

Yes. Brush365 is priced per person, so you can add anyone in the household who doesn’t have dental insurance. There’s no separate family rate, which also means insured and uninsured family members can be seen side by side.

We accept most major plans. Call with your details and we’ll verify your benefits before you come in.

Tell us when you book. Our comfort menu is in every room, nitrous oxide is available for adults and children, and the stop signal applies to everyone.

With a call. We’ll book a comprehensive exam, work out where things actually stand, and build a plan in an order that makes sense. Nobody gets a lecture about the gap.
